Christadelphian Blueprints for Restoring the Early Church, 1848–1920

Abstract

This article explores how beliefs about the earliest Christians changed over time within Christadelphian theology. The Christadelphians descend from the Stone-Campbell Movement, and like many restorationist groups, they contend that the blueprints for rebuilding the original Christian community are clearly spelled out within Scripture. Yet examining a selection of representative theological works from across several generations reveals that even as Christadelphians continued to believe that the early church should be restored, the specifics of what they sought to restore changed.
